This makes the installation run a lot smoother, and the need to lift the backboard is greatly reduced. 

For stability, the post is set to a depth of 48" under the playing surface. Wobbling is not a concern when the Tyrant Excel has been firmly put in place. When installation is complete, the extension distance from the post to the backboard is a full 72". For safety reasons, consider adding post padding or backboard padding to the Tyrant Excel.
